Insurance & Cost
What it costs. What it’s covered for.
Deep TMS for treatment-resistant depression is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most major commercial insurers in California. Other indications vary. Here is a transparent rundown.
By indication
- Treatment-resistant depression / MDD (adults). Covered by Medicare, Medicaid (Medi-Cal), and most major commercial insurers. Coverage typically requires documentation of one or more failed adequate antidepressant trials. IPMG TMS’s billing team assembles this documentation as part of intake.
- Anxious depression. Generally covered under the MDD policy when both diagnoses are documented; varies by carrier.
- OCD. Coverage is growing but more variable. Carrier-by-carrier review is required; we will tell you exactly what your specific plan covers.
- Late-life depression. Medicare-covered.
- Adolescent depression (15–21, adjunctive). Coverage is variable given the recency of the November 2025 FDA clearance; many carriers have not yet published medical-policy updates. We will help you appeal where appropriate.
- Smoking cessation. Generally not covered. Self-pay only.
Self-pay cost
A typical 30-session standard course of Deep TMS in the United States runs roughly $10,000–$15,000. Accelerated SWIFT protocols are priced similarly. We provide a written cost estimate before treatment begins; no surprise bills.
